Consider the Ravens (or More Valuable than Birds)

Aleks- I have wanted to post something wonderful about you since you received the email I've copied below on the 20th of this month. That particular day was the day you were born into this world by your sweet mother in Russia. I know that she was thinking of you just as sure as my own heart reached out when I whispered a prayer of thanks to God for her when I awoke on your day.

This year has taken so much from so many. Loss is something that we've all had to come to know a little better lately. I've seen you wrestle with the possible loss of a graduation ceremony, a senior trip, or even something as simple and supposedly sure as a graduation party in the spring. These are difficult losses that leave a dark smudge where there should be bright color in the scrapbook of your life.

I been watching you this year young lady. Along with your big brother and pesky little sister you've had to weather the storm of divorce that your mother and I dropped in your hemisphere. You've earned your driver's license, got your first job, paid for your first car, been inducted into the National Honor Society, began a CNA course, and now... been accepted into Anderson University.

So this is my public, private letter to you. My girl... you've persevered. I know some days you are spent. Some days the odds seem too great and the things weighing against us seem suffocating... and yet you are the beauty in my world. You are the color where there should be nothing but smudges in the scrapbook of my life.

Congratulations on your success, my love.  Oh... and "SOAR RAVENS SOAR!"

Consider the ravens:
They do not sow or reap,
they have no storeroom or barn;
yet God feeds them.

And how much more valuable you are than birds!

Lk 20:24
